Location & surroundings

Kettwig, the largest and probably most beautiful district of Essen, is located in the extreme southwest of the city. Historic settlements, factory halls and old town villas still tell of its long history today. The Ruhr flows through the middle of the district, flanked by green banks and hiking trails.

Kettwig's busy shopping zone extends around the picturesque old town with its half-timbered houses and narrow streets.
