Both the high recreational value and the excellent infrastructure have brought the district a steady influx. Shops for everyday items, supermarkets, pharmacies and doctors are located in the district, some within walking distance.
In addition to several kindergartens, Röttgen is home to Bonn's largest all-day primary school. The "Röttgener Gymnasium" is located in nearby Ückesdorf.
