Location and surroundings

Schwäbisch Gmünd (approx. 62,000 residents) is a town in eastern Baden-Württemberg, around 50 km east of the state capital, Stuttgart. It is the largest town in the Rems Valley in both population and area, and the second largest in the Ostalb district after Aalen.
