Location description

Gümmer – Rural idyll in the Leineaue

Gümmer has been a district of the city of Seelze since 1974. Between 1980 and 1990, the formerly tranquil village grew rapidly thanks to a new development area in the town center. Numerous houses were built, the design of which blends harmoniously into the old townscape. The Leine meanders picturesquely through the adjacent meadows and pastures.

Not far from Gümmer the Mittelland Canal crosses the Leine. The branching off of the side canal to Hannover Linden creates a large body of water called the “Löhnder Meer”. The canal is ideal for boating or swimming. You can jog or cycle along the bank fortifications towards Hanover.

Embedded in the suburbs of the Hanover region, Gümmer is located approx. 18 kilometers from Hanover. You can reach Hanover Central Station in just 15 minutes by S-Bahn. The town is connected to the city center of Seelze and the centers of Wunstorf, Garbsen and the state capital Hanover via bus lines 500 and 575.

The transport connections by car are also excellent: the Wunstorf-Luthe motorway exit is only 1 km from the development area, alternatively the Garbsen and Wunstorf-Kolenfeld exits are easy to reach. In 25 minutes by car you can reach the Steinhuder Meer with all its natural beauty and leisure opportunities.

As part of the construction work, the existing kindergarten on Westerfeldweg in Gümmer will be joined by another, new kindergarten directly in the new development area in order to meet the needs of young families. Shops for daily needs, a sports club and primary schools are partly within walking distance and partly in the neighboring area. Further educational institutions and well-known employers are located in Seelze and Garbsen.
