Norderstedt is located in the south of Schleswig-Holstein and is the fourth largest city in the northernmost federal state. It borders directly on Hamburg and is in the immediate vicinity of the communities of Quickborn, Henstedt-Ulzburg and Tangstedt.

YOU'RE STILL YOUNG

On January 1, 1970, the town of Norderstedt was formed from the villages of Garstedt, Friedrichsgabe, Glashütte and Harksheide. It is 52 square kilometers in size and today almost 80,000 people live there. By the way, the best-known Norderstedter is Uwe Seeler.

Norderstedt is still quite young, but some of the villages were first mentioned in documents as early as the 14th century: Garstedt in 1370 and Harksheide in 1374. Friedrichsgabe was founded in 1820 on the initiative of Frederik, King of Denmark at the time. Because land was to be cultivated, around twenty families were settled along what is now Quickborner Straße. This project failed, and in 1873 Friedrichsgabe was merged with Meeschensee, Haslohfurt and Dreibeken to form the Prussian rural community of Friedrichsgabe.
